5 Bible Verses Professing Jesus is The Light of the World

advent 5 w ljt

Yes, friend, it was a silent night and it was an oh so Holy night.  I wish you a very Merry Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  As we light the Christ Candle today on this special day, the eve of Jesus birth.

Let’s take a quick look at how Luke told the story in Luke 2:11-12, Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

The Savior, the Light of the World, came so humbly to save us from our sins, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

I will leave you today with five Bible Verses to Celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus The Light of the World.

  1. John 9:5:  “While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.”
  2. Luke 2:32: “A light of revelation  to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”
  3. John 1:4:  “In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.”
  4. 2 Corinthians 4:6:  “For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”
  5. Psalm 27:1: “The LORD is my light and my salvation– whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life– of whom shall I be afraid?”

Merry Christmas!  I wish you hope, joy, love, and light this Christmas.

Hope to see you back here at Living Joy in January!  I am looking forward to sharing God’s Word with you in the New Year.

Look Up, Let Go, Live Joy!

In The Light

One of my favorite things about summer is that it stays light until almost 9:00!  I love it! Even on rainy days, it is still light out into the evening.  Where we live we adhere to the day light savings rules, so for someone like me when that “spring forward” time comes around I am ecstatic!  I don’t even care if I lose an hour of sleep!  It is going to be light longer, way longer.  Then of course there is that dreadful day, if there is a “spring forward”, there has to be… “fall back”!  Clocks are turned back 1 hour, everyone gets their lost hour of sleep back and the darkness, oh the darkness.  It is dark by 5:00 pm.  Of course the cycle will continue and the this pattern of dark days is only temporary.

We all have times of darkness in our souls, and day to day darkness, but our hope in following Jesus is He is our Light! Forever! He is our eternal light.  When we choose to follow Him, he promises that we will never have to walk in the darkness.  We can find the light we need to persevere the messy times in our life in His word.  Isaiah 9:2 tells us “No longer will the sun be your light by day, and the brightness of the moon will not shine on you; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your splendor.”

This is a great reminder for me. God is forever.  Our times of sadness, hopelessness, and even Day Light Savings are just temporary. Whatever we are facing today will pass and God is way big and bright enough to lead us through.  God is always with us.  Find him in His word, in prayer, with another believer.  When we do, we then become the sons and daughters of the Light to share with the world, and to have eternal life with Him in the next.
