Exhale book Cover

Do you struggle with knowing the identity you want for yourself and the one God planned for you?  Are you tired of pleasing others and always trying to meet their expectations for you instead of following the path God has for you? Are you ready to “Lose who you’re not, Love who you are, and Live your one life well”?

Then this is the book for you my friend.

In their Co-Authored book, “Exhale”, Amy Carroll and Cheri Gregory  walk with you on a journey with Jesus to help you find, through biblical principals, the person God created you to be and love her deeply.

Reading “Exhale” is like having two friends come along side you, hooking elbows, and skipping along a path of beautiful treasures.  Gems of  Jesus’ love and truth shining brightly for you to grab hold of as you journey with Amy and Cheri to take the steps they too have taken and continue to practice, to live their one lives well. They share genuine battles they have faced and overcome, as they have at times had to stop skipping and trudge through the messy to get to the place God was leading them.  Like true friends, Amy and Cheri don’t sugar coat this pilgrimage, friend, after all, they are the Grit ‘N’ Grace Girls.(Check out their podcast, amazing!)

Each chapter concludes with a practical principle to help you practice what you have learned and each section concludes with a “Quick Reference Guide” to summarize the unit.  Super handy for girls on a mission to finding their true selves.

“Exhale” is a book you will want to keep handy to refer back to as you take this journey to “Losing Who You’re Not, Loving Who You Are, Living Your One Life Well”.  It is jam packed with scripture and prayers for daily study to help you stay on the path God has so meticulously and perfectly planned just for you, no one else.

Nine Bible Verses To Pray When We Need to Get “Right Sized”

love is patient, love is kind. it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 it does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps

Hi sweet friend.  This week we will continue digging deeper into 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.  Last week we focused on the first few characteristics of what love is and a few Bible verse to pray for patience and kindness.  Click on today’s video for a closer look at four attributes of what love is not.

Getting “Right Sized”

A bible verse to pray when we are envying others:

“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones”. Proverbs 14:30  Pray: Heavenly Father I come to your throne today asking for peace and contentment for all the blessings you have given me.  Give me peace today to find acceptance in my circumstances and to know that I can not handle what others have been given. Grant me the serenity to be grateful for all I have today.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Here are a few bible verses to pray when we feel a little self-seeking:

Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”  Father I come today in praying asking for your guidance that you lead me in all things that I do today out of my love for you and others and not selfish ambition.  I asked to be filled with humility to see others above myself in all I do.  Amen.

1 Corinthians 10:24: “No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.”  Lord, I ask today for courage to seek the good of others rather than my own good. Amen.

Proverbs 11:25: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”  Father I ask today to be filled with your Holy Spirit that I may be generous to those around me, as your word says whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Bible verses to pray when we are speaking boastfully and feeling proud:

Pray Proverbs 11:2:  “Proud and boastful people will be shamed, but wisdom stays with those who are modest and humble.”  Dear Lord, today I come to you and ask for humility.  Keep me right-sized Father so I do not become proud and boastful.  When things are going great, help me to remember it all comes from you Father, not from me.

1 Samuel 2:3 “Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.”  Heavenly Father, today I ask for discernment that the words I speak are words of kindness, compassion, and truth,  Keep my words from being proud and arrogant, Lord.  Amen.

Psalm 19:14 “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”  You can pray this verse no extra words needed.

Bible verses to pray when we find ourselves dishonoring others:

(I find myself doing this often, unintentionally, but my words and actions can be dishonoring if I am not careful).

Hebrews 13:18 “Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things.”  Dear God, I pray today for a clear conscience as I desire to do all things in an honorable way.  Amen.

1 Peter 2:17 “Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.”  Lord, I ask today that I may give proper respect to everyone I come in contact with today.  Help me to love all of my brothers and sisters, to give you all the honor and praise.  Amen.

Has Winter Got You Needing A Bit More Kindness or Patience? Pray These Five Verses

love is patient, love is kind. it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 it does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps

Welcome friend.  This month I am diving into 1 Corinthians 1:13:4-8.  I have divided it up into four blogs digging deeper into what love is and isn’t.  Click on the link to the video below for Part 1.  Praying for Patience and Kindness. (The link will take you to the new Living Joy Today Facebook Page!)

Love is Patient and Kind

For Patience Pray These Verses:

The end of something is better than its beginning. Patience is better than pride.
(Ecclesiastes 7:8)  Heavenly Father, I know that you have a great plan and the end of what I am going through is better than the beginning.  Give me patience over pride today to wait for the plans you have in store for me.

“A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel.” (Proverbs 15:18)  God, give me the patience to pause when angered so not to stir up conflict, for your word tells me that the one who is patient calms the quarrel.  Amen.

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways when they carry out their wicked schemes.”  (Psalm 37:7)  Heavenly Father still me today, for your word tells me to wait patiently and to not fret anyone or anything.

When You Need A Little Kindness Pray These Verses:

“A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth. Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves.” (Proverbs 11:16-17)  Dear God, grant in me a kind heart today.  Fill me with humility that I may be kind to all those I come in contact today to honor you Father.  For it is for your glory and praise, Amen.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)  Heavenly Father fill me today with kindness and compassion.  I am needing to forgive_________________ for __________________. Give me the wisdom, kindness and compassion to forgive as you continually forgive me.

God’s Word Brought To You Today By The Holy Spirit

all scripture is god-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of god[a]may be thoroughly equipped for every

As I sit here this morning thinking about 2 Timothy 3:16-17 and writing this devotional I am looking out my front window at new fallen snow.  Fluffy, fresh, pure white snow, lightly covering the roof tops and yards.  Tree branches are glistening with the soft white powder.  I start thinking about God’s breath and imagine it being fresh and pure like the new snow.  God’s fresh, pure life being breathed into each line of scripture.

God communicated to individuals the specific truth of scripture through his breath of life, the Holy Spirit.  The Hebrew word for Spirit is rauch which means “air in motion”.  This is the same word in Hebrew for breath and life.  Super cool, right. The Greek word for “God Breathed” is theopneustos, theo meaning God pneo meaning breath.” (Click the link to go the The Blue Letter Bible to hear the pronunciation of theopneustos.  I thought this would be a fun little addition to this week’s blog and to share one of my favorite on-line study tools! Blue letter Bible pronunciation)close-up-dandelion-dandelion-seeds-39669

My Woman’s Study Bible says, “The Holy Spirit Superintended” , or oversaw the process in the writing of scripture so there were no errors in the original writings.

2 Peter 1:20-21 tells us, “ Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

Peter is addressing the false teachers who argued the reliability of the Christian message.  They believed that the apostles were making up the stories they were about Jesus.  Peter contended that the Old Testament was recorded by men who were moved, or carried by the Holy Spirit.

And if we go to the very beginning, Genesis 1:2 the Spirit of God was there, “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”

Peter was right!

God chose these precious Prophets of Old and Apostles of New, ok well some of them not so precious but I think that was to get some very special points across to us,  anyway he chose them to breathe His Holy spirit into them to carry His life to us.

I have to believe that all of this connection of scripture from Old to New Testament, and my friend this is just a simple example, the Bible is a seamless story from beginning to end,  that when I need to hear from God for a word of encouragement, discipline, training, or teaching I can turn to scripture and without a doubt know I can rely on His word.  It so much more pure and fresh than new fallen snow outside my window, it is LIFE!

Heavenly Father, Thank you today for sending your Holy Spirit to this world to live in your believers.  Lead us Father to your word when we are confused, need a little discipline and guidance or just need a word of encouragement because we know it is true and trustworthy.  In your Son Jesus’ name, Amen.

Motivation for Your Monday: The Holy Spirit Is With Us

for prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from god as they were carried along by the holy spirit. 2 peter 1_21 (1)

Well friends it’s a cold Monday in the “Ville” and I would love to be curled up on the couch in front of the fire in my blanket.  But off to work I go and so grateful I have the Holy Spirit to come along for my daily journey!

My prayer is the Holy Spirit will lead us today in all we do!

Wednesday I will bring you another video devotional about why we can rely on God’s Word in all areas of our lives!

Until then

Collage 2019-01-02 05_46_04

Glorious Friday, Friend!  I pray  God blesses us today and throughout the weekend.  Here are three verses we can take along with us to pray when we need to hear from Jesus. There are so many many more, this is just a start. I know they have given me peace, wisdom, discernment, and guidance I pray they will do the same for you!

We can pray Hebrews 4:16 when we need mercy and grace:  “Heavenly Father, I come confidently to your throne, I need your mercy and grace in my life”

When we need to see with a different perspective we can pray Psalm 119:18: “God, open my eyes so I can see the amazing truths in your instructions”

Pray Psalm 29:11 for strength and peace: “Lord, today I need your strength.  I come to you today and ask for your blessing of peace.”
