Five Gifts In His Name

As we enter into this busy holiday season, let’s not forget the ultimate reason why we celebrate with friends and family. And maybe this year will be the year we all take a deep breath, relax, and take some time to Thank God for the Truth of the season and the gifts he gives us right in his son’s name.

God has blessed us with so many amazing gifts through his son, Jesus. Whom he sent to this world to live and breath as a human. To feel, suffer, and ultimately give us the greatest gift of all, dying on the cross for our sins so we will one day have eternal life with Him in Heaven.

As you are hustling and bustling through this season, maybe feeling overwhelmed with everything, here are five gifts of Jesus just for you, in His name.

Heavenly Father,

I thank you for the gift of your son, Jesus Christ who endured more suffering than any of us could ever imagine so we could be set free. Father I pray for all of those tender hearts during this holiday season who are struggling with addiction, abuse, loss, hunger, and illness. May your gift of Jesus bring Love, Hope, Peace, and Healing to our hurting world. I also pray Father as we leave another year and bring in a new one that more and more people will find the gifts of Jesus. In His Holy Name, Amen.

Blessing and Thanks to each of you who have been along with me, Living Joy this year. I look forward to new adventures in Jesus in 2020! I hope you will join me.

5 Bible Verses Professing Jesus is The Light of the World

advent 5 w ljt

Yes, friend, it was a silent night and it was an oh so Holy night.  I wish you a very Merry Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  As we light the Christ Candle today on this special day, the eve of Jesus birth.

Let’s take a quick look at how Luke told the story in Luke 2:11-12, Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

The Savior, the Light of the World, came so humbly to save us from our sins, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

I will leave you today with five Bible Verses to Celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus The Light of the World.

  1. John 9:5:  “While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.”
  2. Luke 2:32: “A light of revelation  to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”
  3. John 1:4:  “In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.”
  4. 2 Corinthians 4:6:  “For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”
  5. Psalm 27:1: “The LORD is my light and my salvation– whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life– of whom shall I be afraid?”

Merry Christmas!  I wish you hope, joy, love, and light this Christmas.

Hope to see you back here at Living Joy in January!  I am looking forward to sharing God’s Word with you in the New Year.

How Do You Spell Love this Advent Season…Jesus

advent4 w ljt

The Fourth week of Advent we light the candle of Love. For as John 3:16 so lovingly proclaims, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

I love what 1 John 4:7 says about love, “let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.”  Friend, our world more than ever needs love.  Let us light this Love candle for our world today, spreading the love of God to everyone.  Because, “ Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:11.

For this Fourth Week of Advent I have eight Bible verses of Love for your hearts.

  1. Corinthians 13:13:  “”And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
  2. Ephesians 4:2-3:  “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
  3. Colossians 3:14:  “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
  4. 1 John 4:19:  “We love because He first loved us.”
  5. John 15:9-10:  “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.”
  6. John 15:12-13:  “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
  7. Psalm 86:15:  “But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”
  8. Romans 5:8:  “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

And during the busyness of this Christmas season friend, let’s remember 1 Corinthians 13:4-8  with our families, friends, co-workers, and retailers:

Collage 2018-10-21 19_07_41Lord, Thank you for loving us and sending your only Son to save us from our sins.  May we be stewards of your love this seasons and always.  In Christs name, Amen.

I hope you have enjoyed this little Advent series.  We will light the Christ Candle tomorrow on Christmas Eve.  I can’t wait, I hope you will come back to celebrate the birth  our Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Friday Joy

Friday Joy! Joy

Happy Friday Friend,

I can’t believe we have lit three candles of Advent already!  Joy is my favorite!  I can choose to have Joy everyday no matter what my circumstances.  As John 10:10 a says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy”  I say, “Not Today Satan”  I choose JOY! I choose Jesus!

3 Joyful Scriptures For Week Three of Advent

advent3 w ljt

The second Fruit of the Spirit after Love is Joy.  A virtue way deeper than happiness could imagine being.  True joy comes from living for and in Christ.  God sent us his only Son so we could experience joy every day no matter what we have, or who we have lost in our lives.  Jesus brings us joy!

We light the candle of Joy for the third week of Advent.  “Joy to the World, the Lord has come!” My favorite line in that song is, “Let every heart prepare Him room”.  Let’s all prepare room in our hearts for Jesus this Christmas.  He is the reason for the season!

Fill your spirit with these three joyful pieces of scripture this week.

  1. Isaiah 12:6:  “Shout aloud and sing for Joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”
  2. James 1:2-4:  “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
  3. Habakkuk 3:17-18: “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord,I will be joyful in God my Savior.”

Heavenly Father, our joy does not come from earthly things, it comes from your son Jesus.  May we be filled with overflowing joy that is surrounded in our Savior, Jesus, this Advent Season.  Amen.

Tells us about a Bible Verse that fills you with Joy!  I’m giving away another gift card this week.  Just by leaving a comment you will be eligible for the give away.

Friday Joy

Friday Joy! Peace

Happy Friday!

Sometimes it can be difficult to find peace this time of year. However, when we remember to keep Jesus the reason for the season, I believe we will find the peace He meant for us to enjoy.  The evil one is lurking my friend, and he is nothing like the Grinch. His heart will never grow four sizes larger on any day and he never wants to see your’s grow deeper for your Savior, Jesus. Don’t let him steal your peace this Advent season.  Take time with Jesus.

5 Bible Verses of Peace During The Most Wonderful, Stressful Time of Year

I don’t know if when Edward Pola and George Wyle were writing the song, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” or when Andy Williams was singing it if they realized the lyrics could have been, “It’s the Most Wonderful, Stressful Time of the Year”.  I get the “Parties for hosting” and the “caroling out in the snow”, but what’s up with the “marshmallows roasting” and “scary ghost stories”?  Oh, I guess they are referring to “A Christmas Carol”, Scrooge and his three ghostly visitors? Perhaps.

Seriously, Christmas can be very stressful for many, but it doesn’t have to be when we stay focused on the real story of the season, the story of Jesus. A story of Peace.

We light the second candle of Advent for Peace.  As Isaiah 9:6b tells us, “And he will be called, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

I don’t know about you, but when I slow down to think about Mary and Joseph and precious Jesus in a barn on that Holy night, that silent night.  I feel an overwhelming wave of peace wash over me.

Take some time this week, friend, get silent with God.  Feel His peace.  Here are five verses of peace to ease your mind.

  1.  Isaiah 26:3:  You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
  2. Luke 2:14:  “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
  3. Numbers 6: 24-26:  “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
  4. John 16:33:  “I have told you these things so that you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
  5. Psalm 4:8:  “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Dear Lord, I pray today for peace for our world and for each person reading this blog today.  I ask that you, Father, show us your peace during this precious time of year that is not about running around like crazy people, but a time that is truly wonderful and peaceful.  Help us to remember the peace we have through your son, Jesus.  Amen.

I will be giving away another gift card this week.  Don’t forget to comment with your favorite Bible verse about Peace, or what you do to find peace in your life during the hustle and bustle of Christmas.  Sharing is Caring, if you enjoy reading Living Joy Today please share it with your friends.
